Transgender Support is open to everyone whose life is concerned with issues of gender identity, including spouses, parents, partners, and others. The only attendance requirement is that you are willing to support the mission statement of SAGE:
The mission of the Southern Association for Gender Education is to shape public discourse about gender identity and the issues rising from alternate gender expressions and to empower persons in their expression of authentic and healthy gender identities. We do this by:
-Educating those people and institutions in our culture most able to influence public discourse about alternate gender identities and expressions,
-Empowering people who experience and express alternate gender identities to live full and authentic lives, and,
-Encouraging transgender individuals and communities to become full partners in advocating for gender justice for all persons.
The Southern Association for Gender Education is sustained by professionals qualified under the WPATH Standards of Care who provide counseling in a safe environment. Professionals with exceptional experience in the area of alternative gender expression are available for consultation and educational support.
Information provided by editor: This group is largely comprised of Dr. Swenson's current and past therapy clients, but all are welcome. Attendees range across ages and genders; many attendees are middle-aged transsexual women.
